The final day of the main round for Groups I and IV at the 2025 IHF Women’s World Championship delivers two standout clashes, as Hungary face Denmark and Norway meet Brazil with group victory on the line.
Hungary–Denmark
Both teams enter the match unbeaten, but Denmark carry stronger momentum after maintaining a perfect record, while Hungary dropped points in a draw against Japan. Denmark need only a single point to secure first place in Group I, while Hungary must take all two.
Denmark boast one of the tournament’s most productive attacks at 37.2 goals per game, led by rising star Julie Scaglione (29 goals). Hungary rely on the proven backcourt duo of Gréta Márton and Katrin Klujber, who have combined for 49 goals. Defensively, Hungary hold slightly stronger numbers, but Denmark’s goalkeeper pair Anna Kristensen and Amalie Milling provide an important edge.
The teams know each other well, having met more than 20 times, making this a finely balanced Nordic–Central European showdown.
Norway–Brazil
Both Norway and Brazil arrive with five wins from five and their quarter-final places already secured. The match will decide who finishes top of the group.
Beyond the standings, the game highlights the remarkable longevity of two icons: Brazil’s Alexandra do Nascimento Martínez (44) and Norway’s Katrine Lunde (45), both still playing key roles on the world stage.
Their most recent encounter came at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, where Norway won convincingly, 32–15, in a historic quarter-final. Brazil now look to show they can challenge the European champions on equal terms.
