Only one match day in the Main Round was needed to put four teams at an unreachable distance. Switzerland and Netherlands, Hungary and Denmark will duel for the first place internally without risk to drop out of the top eight.
Although the table shows the advancing teams with straight wins, there were some issues on the way. Denmark even had to switch arena mid-way during their game against Republic of Korea.
The weather situation in Skopje caused a power cut in Jane Sandanski and the teams experienced an extended break before they could continue in Boris Trajkovski. Denmark had already rushed away to 19–12 and didn’t allow any further changes of game development.
Hungary were equally triumphant to exclude Norway from the play-off (31–26), after a superb goalkeeper in Szofi Imre and solid distance performances by Emilia Varga and Luca Csikos already from the start of the Main Round game.
Switzerland fought off Romania with just one goal, 27–26 after a nervous last minute when Switzerland missed a penalty and Romania failed to equalize. Netherlands follow suit with four points and defeated Egypt (20–17). The defense approach from Netherlands put pressure and Egypt and a lot of technical faults sabotaged the possibilities to cling on to an early lead in the second half.
