Five countries to host Euro 2026

The European Championships 2026 will be an historical event. Five countries – Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Czechia and and Türkiye will share the women’s championship in the beginning of December.

EHF had originally opted for Russia as a sole host, an offer that was retracted last summer according to the website of the federation.

Instead of choosing any of the three bids follow-ups, EHF now announces an multishared event, ”in a move to bring top women’s handball to as many European markets as possible”, writes EHF on its webpage.

The championship in less than three years time will concern 24 participating teams. The first phase is set for Oradea, Cluj-Napoca, Antalya, Brno, Katowice, and Bratislava.

Cluj-Napoca in Romania will arrange the main round as well as Katowice in Poland.

The final weekend in Spodek Arena, Katowice promises to be played in front of 11,000 spectators.
