2024 Euros will be the last hurrah for Hergeirsson

He has been in charge of Norway’s women’s national team since 2009 and has won 10 championship golds in total. But the 2024 Euros will be the last hurrah for Thorir Hergeirsson as head coach of Norway.

– I had a couple of weeks off after the Olympics. Then I realized that the time has come to quit, says Thorir Hergeirsson in a press release by the Norwegian federation.

The 60-year-old from Iceland started his position in 2009 and his final championship will be the 2024 Euros in Austria, Switzerland, and Hungary.

– I have 10-12 years left working and I want to do something else. I have worked in elite handball since the beginning of the 1990s and there is a time for everything, says Hergeirsson.

Norway has, with Hergeirsson as coach, won 5 Euros, 3 World Championships, and 3 Olympics.
