Bm Elche concluded the Spanish duel in the semifinal and fought off Rocasa Gran Canaria. MKS Michalovce experienced a lot of twist and turns before they could advance on SL Benfica´s expense. Nevertheless, both clubs are just two games away from the European Cup trophy.
Coincidentally, both Elche and Michalovce fell in last year’s semifinal but took revenge in the 2023/24 edition.
The Spanish contender ran away from Gran Canaria early in the return game. Zaire Benitez Gomez was a true centre back force with seven own goals and Elche clearly had the better shape after winning the league stage in their home country where Gran Canaria missed the play-off.
Michalovce came to Portugal with a two-goal-margin and seemed to ease thought with a six goal lead during first half. However, the end game was exciting. Benfica equalised the total standing with 30–28 but Michalovce found the force via experienced Patricia Wollingerova and Nikoleta Pejovic to decide the final outcome.
The double-header in the final will be played on 18/19 and 25/26 May.
