On July 25, the handball Olympics in Paris begin. One person who is eager to win his first Olympic gold is Nikolaj Jacobsen. But today, all his focus is on GOG in the Partille World Cup, who earlier today defeated Utleira IL in the team’s first playoff match.
Partille World Cup means a lot to many people, even to the Danish men’s national team coach. For in 20 days, Nikolaj Jacobsen will be on the sidelines in Paris, giving directives to world stars like Mikkel Hansen and Niklas Landin. Today, he was giving directives to GOG’s boys-16 team.
In the team’s first playoff match against the Norwegian Utleira IL, the national team coach was very engaged in the team’s performance. GOG was slightly ahead the whole time, and there was never really any tension. That didn’t stop Jacobsen from showing emotions, as he was very engaged from the first to the last whistle. The team won 19–12 and will now play in the round of 16 against IK Sävehof at 15:35 on Heden 13. It could be a very exciting match to watch.
After the match, Jacobsen arrived a bit late to the team’s meeting. The coach was busy taking selfies with a few starstruck spectators.
