Diogo Branquinho makes a spectacular move and sets Sporting CP up for an exciting season. The left winger leaves FC Porto to explore new Champions League opportunities.
Branquinho played top flight European Handball for five seasons and comes with a total of seven years experience in FC Porto. Since the tide has turned in Portuguese Handball, Sporting won it all last season.
– I’m sure I’ll be very happy with the Sporting CP shirt. What made me embrace this project was the team and its strength. It’s a team that’s worth more than the sum of its parts, it’s a winning team that captivates the fans. I ask that you continue to watch us play, that’s what we want and, above all, to help the team, to continue winning, he says to club media.
Sporting will duel with Veszprém HC, Paris Saint-Germain, Füchse Berlin and other tough contenders starting mid-September. But there are other goals than Champions League for Branquinho and his new teammates.
– This year we will have the Champions League back and we have very good ambitions for this competition, but above all continue winning national competitions, which is the most important thing, he says to club media.
