Official: Hallgrímsson joins Wisla Plock

The rumor was true: Viktor Gisli Hallgrímsson has joined Wisła Płock on a one-year contract.
– It’s a huge opportunity for me, says the Icelandic goalkeeper on the club’s website.

The first step in the rumors regarding the goalkeeper situation at Wisła Płock has now been confirmed. The 23-year-old goalkeeper, Viktor Gisli Hallgrímsson, has signed a one-year contract with the Polish giants Wisła Płock.

Hallgrímsson has earned 49 caps for Iceland and achieved a save efficiency close to 33.5% in the EHF European League.

– Despite his young age, Viktor is already a highly experienced player who will significantly strengthen our defensive ranks. We believe that his presence will help us achieve further successes both in Poland and in Europe, says Płock’s sports director, Adam Wiśniewski.

As reported earlier, rumors suggest that the Icelandic goalkeeper will only represent the club for one year. He will later replace Gonzalo Perez de Vargas at Barcelona. For Wisła Płock, Torbjørn Bergerud is rumored to be his replacement after next season.

– I look forward to working with my new teammates and coaching staff. Together, I am confident we can achieve many successes in all competitions. My goal is to bring energy, dedication, and a strong work ethic to the team. I am ready to give my all, commented Viktor Gisli Hallgrímsson.
