The Danish team came in to the Olympic handball tournament with a bang. Veteran Henrik Møllgaard talks to Gohandball about how the new generation sacrifies themselves to reach new levels of the game of handball.
It was a big wake-up-call for France and all the other teams in the Men’s handball tournament. Denmark just flew through the first game and handed France a Heavy defeat. Experienced left-back turned into defensive specialist Henrik Møllgaard spoke to Gohandball about how the new generation influences the team.
– We have revolutionized the way we play in the last couple of years. That is possible because the two-three guys that just have popped up. 21-year olds that already are World class.
– We cannot expect that to happen every year but right now we have to play the way they play. They way that they see the game and the speed that they got, the willingness to sacrifice themselves, we have to use that as a weapon and not as a joker.
He also reflects on the evolution through the years.
– Right now that is the way we have to play. It is not the same handball I used to play 10 years ago and I don’t know if it better or prettier but it’s damn hard to defend against.
