Italy is closing in on 2025 World Championship appearance

The shocks keep on coming in the Men’s 2025 World championship qualification. Italy defeated Montenegro, 32–26, and is just one game away from making the tournament for only the second time in the nation’s history.

Greece defeated the Netherlands a couple of days ago and yesterday the next big shock in the Men’s 2025 World Championship happened. Montenegro, normally a sure thing in big championships, lost against Italy and now Italy is on the verge of creating history.

Italy has only appeared in one World championship before, in 1997 in Japan where they finished in 18th place. But now, after securing a 6 goal win, they can do it again.

Italy are a handball nation that is on the way forward, but they are not the only nation going forward that produced a shock yesterday. Slovakia and Switzerland are also underdogs in their respective match-ups.

The final matches are played on Sunday and after that, we know which teams from Europe will participate in the 2025 World Championship.
