Telekom Veszprem didn´t leave any room for a Pick Szeged comeback. Wisla Plock bowed out from the international campaign but pushed PSG all the way in a tight away game.
The Hungarian duel made it evident that Veszprem just was the better team and the April shape produced a variety of attacking options. Mikita Vailupau scored eight times from the wing and Veszprem was unstoppable by a huge margin over 120 minutes.
The long quest for a first CL title continues as Veszprem faces Aalborg HB in the quarter-final.
PSG ruled by five goals overall, thus the end score was undebatable. Xavi Sabate´s came close in the second game, but Elohim Prandi, David Balaguer and the PSG colleagues seemed to control the action.
– The goal was to be qualified and it’s done. Before the game, we knew Plock was a tough team and they showed it again tonight. We missed some actions but we fought until the end, said PSG´s wing player Mathieu Grebille to eurohandball.com.
Next up for PSG is the big city battle against Barca. The quarter-final teams match last years edition in six of eight cases, GOG and Wisla Plock left early with Aalborg and Montpellier HB being the newcomers.
