Anna Lagerquist extends her stay in Nantes

Earlier this year, Anna Lagerquist suffered a serious knee injury. Now, the Swedish national team star is extending her contract with the club Les Neptunes de Nantes.
I really enjoy being in Nantes, says the defensive giant on the club’s website.

In February, Lagerquist tore her ACL in a league match against Brest. It was later confirmed that the national team player would miss the Olympics.

– The operation went well in Sweden, and I started rehabilitation when I returned to Nantes. I’m happy to be back here to support the girls off the pitch, says Lagerquist.

Now, the club, Les Neptunes de Nantes, confirms that the 30-year-old is extending her contract.

– I’m very happy to stay in Nantes and to be able to play with this jersey again after my injury. I really like the environment in the club, its ambitions, and the atmosphere in the arena with the supporters, says the player herself.

Now, all focus for the midfielder is on rehabilitation and getting in shape for the next season.

– I’m trying to strength train more to activate different muscles. I need to find a good balance so that the knee responds well, but I also need to have patience before I can return to the pitch. It’s frustrating, but I’m trying to stay positive.
