Dean Bombac moves to Györ

The magician from Slovenia, Dean Bombac takes his creative resources to another setting. Györi ETO-UNI FKC currently leads the second division in Hungary, and the newcomer adds hope for a soon return to the very elite.

Bombac calls it quits after eight years in Pick Szeged, separated by a two-year stint in Vive Kielce (2016-18). The two latest clubs has definitely brought out the best of the 35-year-old in cooperation with the Slovenian National team.

Bombac still has ambitions, and Györi surely has a leading role in mind for the centre back.

– I’m very excited to join a rebuilt, long-established club from the summer. I am looking forward to getting to know my new teammates, the whole crew, the fans and Györ itself. I join an ambitious club, where not only the team, but also the city of Györ is hungry for the success of ETO in the highest division to shine as a star in the men’s handball again, he says to the club website.

According to Handball-Planet, Györ has also included right back Zsolt Balogh in the roster for 2024/25
