MT Melsungen cut off HC Erlangen towards the end of the first half and laid the ground for triumph number eight in Bundesliga. Dainis Kristopans and David Mandic took Melsungen back to the top of the tables.
Erlangen made a true effort playing away and caught up with Melsungen at 11–11. But the top team provided more variation in their attacks, having Rogerio Moraes in the pivot role and the wing men Timo Kastening and Mandic at full pace early on.
Mandic executed the counterattacks perfectly and Kristopans was there to bring the ball forward as well as solve the knot when Erlangen´s defense was all awake.
Erlangen´s courage to try and close the gap was worth more than a third to last position and Tim Gömmel and Antonio Metzner both scored seven times. However, Melsungen wasn’t bothered in the end with 32–27 on the board.
MT Melsungen–HC Erlangen 32–27 (18–14)
