Füchse Berlin increased their overall lead in Bundesliga after a magnificent performance by Mathias Gidsel. The Danish superstar captured the crowd in Max-Schmeling–Halle – breakthroughs, distance shots and speedy attacks adding up to 14 goals in the 39–32-win.
Berlin faced HC Erlangen when Gidsel had his way to ease through the defenders like never before. There were other solid performers in the team effort, Lasse Bredekjaer Anderson converted many of the passes to find the net before he received a red card and Hans Lindberg was trustworthy on penalties.
Gidsel however, reached a new level with just one miss in 15 shots and steered the game early with 9–2 after seven minutes.
Füchse Berlin is currently three points up on SC Magdeburg, though the second team in the table has a game in hand.
As for Gidsel, the mvp might even challenge Manuel Zehnder as top scorer. With one third of Bundesliga to go, 14 goals (200/186) separate the back court players.
