After the derby triumph against SC Leipzig, not much stands behind SC Magdeburg and more year on the Bundesliga throne. The game itself proved one of the harder ones for Magdeburg in 2023/24, Omar Ingi Magnussons 16(!) goals facilitated the 30–28-win immensely.
Magdeburg caught up with Füchse Berlin with the same number of games, but four points more in the table. The home team broke away in the first half with a four-goal-lead to make use of after the break.
Matej Klima and Franz Semoer pushed on from the back court for Leipzig, who almost equalised at 19–18. Felix Clear and Magnusson provided some work rest for Magdeburg and towards the end the Icelandic star was unstoppable in the goal production.
In theory, Berlin could finish on the same 58 points as Magdeburg adds up with two rounds to go. However, the goal difference from the defending champion is very convincing, plus 84 in the favor of the title renewal as it stands in Bundesliga.
In other top flight news, Kiel lost another two points when VfL Gummersbach´s successful attacks reached 40–29. Gummersbach beat the zebra team for the first time in six years, due to good team spirit and the offensive tactics led out by the coaching team and implemented by Kristjan Horzen (six goals) and many competent colleagues.
