HBW Balingen-Weilstetten is very near to end the season in the relegation zone. In what was effectively a last chance saloon, Balingen-Weilstetten undisputably fell 21–34 towards ThSV Eisenach.
The news that HSV Hamburg was denied a license to Bundesliga 2024/25 affected the participants in the Friday duel differently.
ThSV Eisenach took their third win out of five games. If the decision regarding Hamburg stands after the appeal option, two points in the newcomer face-off was enough to continue in the top flight.
As the line currently is drawn behind the second to last team, Balingen-Weilstetten was given another chance but dived miserably in front of the home crowd. Manuel Zehnder was in total domination with eleven goals for the guests and Balingen-Weilstetten didn’t get anyone beyond the three-goal-mark.
Balingen-Weilstetten is six points down on Bergischer HC. With four games left of the season the bottom team can only be saved by a remarkable recovery.
SC Leipzig won the other match-up after an impressive performance by the Iceland right back Viggo Kristjansson. Leipzig ran away from Frisch Auf Göppingen within the first 30 minutes and saved some resources to the very end when the home team actually equalized but fell behind again.
Hamburg denied by licensing commission
Hamburg´s misery became evident a couple of weeks ago when the licensing commission required proof of provided proof of economic viability to grant the license.
After the set deadline passed, the league’s official webpage published a statement that the club can’t participate in Bundesliga next season.
