Erlangen scared Melsungen for a point – could have had the double

The final score was 31–31. Beyond the tight game development, the point gained by HC Erlangen against MT Melsungen might be incredibly important in the relegation battle.

Melsungen in a bit of a swing was no match for highly motivated Erlangen from the start. Right back Antonio Metzner had a great first half and nine meter colleague Simon Jeppsson also produced plenty of goals towards 17–12 and Jonathan Svensson added to the home team’s offensive with seven hits.

Erlnagen even had eight goals to defend with 20 minutes to go, still to the home fans had to endure a nerve-wracking finish. Melsungen national team duo Timo Kastening and Julius Kühn brought the guests closer and closer. In the final seconds, Melsungen managed to put 30–31 on the board but Tim Zechel saved the home team with the surprising point.

Erlangen is four points up on Bergischer HC on the other side of the line, three and four games remain respectively.
