Confirmed: Gensheimer set to stay in Löwen after his playing days

Uwe Gensheimer ends his playing career after the season. Now Rhein-Neckar Löwen announces that the legend will step into the role of sporting director after the end of his career.
“The fact that Uwe is staying with us after his active career is very good news,” says Jennifer Ketteman on the club’s website.

Uwe Gensheimer has previously announced that this year’s season will be the last of his career. But an injury has spoiled the start of the season for Gensheimer, who has the ambition to get back on the field before the season ends in the spring.

But even now Rhein-Neckar Löwen announces that Gensheimer will remain loyal to the club even after his playing career – this in the role of sporting director.

“The fact that Uwe is staying with us after his active career is very good news. He is a club legend – because of his many sporting achievements as well as because of his incomparable personality. He embodies the Rhine-Neckar Lion like no other. Now wants we accompany him on the way to becoming the sporting director that Rhein-Neckar Löwen needs for a sustainable successful future”, says Löwen’s CEO Jennifer Kettemann about the news.

Gensheimer moved to Rhein-Neckar Löwen back in 2003 from Friedrichsfeld and has since been faithful to the club throughout his career, apart from a three-year stay at Paris Saint-Germain.
