Nimes upset PSG in tight drama

Usam Nimes became the first French team to beat Paris Saint-Germain in their home ground during 2023/25. With 32–33 PSG experienced a set-back but stays on top in Starligue.

The tight Sunday duel showed that might be more excitement to come in the title race. PSG failed to extend their lead versus HBC Nantes and just one point separate the two top teams with two rounds to go.

All thanks to Nimes, who not only managed to keep the pace in the nerve-wrecking finish. Vincent Gueric kept cool at the penalties and scored six out of six. With three minutes to go Kamil Syzprak found the net to 31–30, but a quick equaliser followed by 31–32 from Jean-jacques Acquevillo disturbed the home team before the final minutes.

Nimes performed with boosted confidence and stopped a pass from PSG´s power-shooter Elohim Prandi (ten goals). After a time-out Jesper Konradsson challenged the defense for a penalty and Gueric made no mistake with 31–33.

Nimes strenghten their position and eyes a chance to reach fifth position.

PSG hope to return to the winning streak against Creteil (a), before facing Pauc (h) in the last round of Starligue.
