Handnews puts focus on interesting news from Proligue. Having advanced to the second division, Dreux-Vernouillet withdraws because of economical and organizational reasons.
The step from Nationale 1 Fédérale to Proligue represents a major leap for any French club. The professional level requires high-stake investments, beyond the current possibilities of Dreux-Vernouillet.
The club doesn´t stand alone with the decision to stay in the lower division. Annecy le Vieux came to a similar conclusion a few week ago and Mulhouse opted out of their climb last year.
”The leaders believe that the financial and structural means of the club do not ensure a secure and sustainable rise for the future of the club”, according to Handnews.
