Irish handball set sail for a course change to gain further interest for the sport. Among other things, the federation IOHA will become OHI – Olympic Handball Ireland in the beginning of 2024 and a new marketing plan will be launched.
Irish Handball News cover the update of the organization, while it enters its final stages. During the annual meeting held in November, IOHA had discussions concerning the re-branding process. As a result a name change from IOHA (Irish Olympic Handball Association) to OHI (Olympic Handball Ireland) is on the agenda in a few months time.
To make the sport grow nationally a strategic marketing plan is in the pipeline. Year one to five of the 15-year-project cover ”increasing awareness and participation at the grassroots level”, the middle years contain focus on ”increasing membership and local club setup” by improving facilities and equipment.
In the latter stage, years ten to 15 ”the ambitious goals include achieving success in the Olympic and international teams”, writes Irish Handball News in a report.
